What is Heat-Pak® overboarding system that is suitable for use under Karndean, Amtico and Carpet?

Heat-Pak® has been designed to be a floating floor over boarding system specifically for use over underfloor heating and under floor types such as Amtico, Karndean and even Carpet to be fixed to.

Heat-Pak® provides a really smooth, stable surface to which most floor coverings can be bonded or fixed to, but especially suited to Amtico & Karndean, this is because both of those floor types require a super smooth surface upon which to bond to. The beauty of Heat-Pak® is that it eliminates any of the old problems that conventional electric underfloor heating system used pose to the installer. This is because of its unique "Dry installation" method of installation, in days gone by if you wanted a heated Amtico or Karndean floor you would have had to use the undertile system such as cables and cable mats, then latex over, wait for the latex to dry, sand it down and do the final pour, to get a mirror like finish to bond the flooring to, then there was always the danger of cables popping up and being close to the surface and creating scorch marks on the flooring. This has all gone now and by using Heat-Pak® and the carbon heating film you won’t even get your hands mucky mixing dirty wet latex compound and even the most competent DIY'er could do it. More importantly the thermal conductivity of the Heat-Pak® system is exceptionally high compared to other systems allowing heat to pass through the floor finish and into the room with no significant loss of efficiency.

Carpet underfloor Heating

Carpets can be used over Heat-Pak® but do need some special attention before deciding to purchase. Carpets need to have a tog value of 2.5 or less to be effective, and its the same for the underlay. The method of installation is the same as above, but you will need to remove your skirting boards, install the Heat-Pak® and replace the skirting and then glue the carpet gripper rods to the surface. You need to do it in this way becuase its the skirting boards that stop the Heat-Pak® from lifting at the edges when tighting up the carpet. Installation

Installation is quick, clean and simple. The Heat-Pak® system consists of a composite base board with a precision-finished top board. An interactive adhesive bonds each layer together, providing a stable base to which the floor finish can be fixed. The boards can be worked easily and cut without producing dust or debris.

Heat-Pak® meets the requirements according to DIN 4102-1, class B2 (1998), 'Reaction to fire tests - Ignitability of building products subjected to direct impingement of flame'.

Thermal Conductivity: 21.43W/m²K.
Thermal Resistance: 0.046m²K/W (0.46 Tog).
