Can I turn off my underfloor heating boiler during summer? I find that just turning down all the room thermostats still leaves some heat in the floor from the water pipes

    Thank you

Hi, Yes not a problem, but it is prudent to run the system for an hour or so each month to keep the pumps and valves operating normally.

Hi, I moved into a house 4 yrs ago which was built in 2002 with underfloor heating (water system) and operated with a Keston boiler. When this boiler packed up some months ago I had it replaced with a Valiant. However this new boiler keeps overheating and the firm who installed it does not seem to know why. Initially they said it needed more expansion, but that made no difference, it is still overheating. Also the temperature in the main area is set at 21 degrees and reaches it. Now, however the temperature in the lounge does not want to go beyond 19 or 20 degrees, despite my setting it at 24 degrees.

The engineer does not seem to have any idea why the boiler is continually overheating and says that there is no connection between that and the failure for the lounge to reach required temperature.

Can you suggest what the problems may be caused by or do you have any engineers in the South West of England?

    Thank You

does sound strange this one – is the automatic bypass valve installed? did the keston have one and the valient not?

is the house only UFH? or is there rads upstairs?

im assuming you have a hot water tank also? is it ok when the hot water is on?

There could be a link between the lounge not heating up if the boiler is always cutting out.

      Check the autobypass valve firstly.
